SUCCESS STORIES
DISOLVING DEBTS!
Year upon year our team work one-on-one with approximately 300 clients in our local community.
Over this last financial year:
- 374 of our clients have received on going assistance. Our statistic show that clients who work with us long term have a greater chance of becoming debt free.
- The average debt of our client is approximately $36,807.
- Total client debt is $13,766,129
Through our assistance our clients have been able to stabilize and improve their financial positions, many reducing their debt or even becoming debt free. It is vital for us to build strong relationships and be there with them for the long term.

COMMUNITY MEALS
Initially – in 2003, 33 people attended the first Compassion Trust community meal at the Grace Vineyard Church building in Ferry Road. Over time, the popularity of these events grew as the community came to appreciate the love, encouragement and support. By 2007, around 200 guests attended seven events held annually, culminating with a Christmas meal attended by 450 people. In 2006, Compassion Trust began to personally deliver school lunches to low income families. By 2009, school lunches (with home-baked cookies) were being delivered to 47 families each week, feeding 150 kids.
CHRISTMAS WITH COMPASSION
Every year, just prior to Christmas day, a Christmas feast is held inviting families and individuals we have been supporting from the community over the year. Those who attend are treated to a fully catered affair with candles and crackers, table service, live music and a hearty Christmas dinner & dessert, kids get a present from Santa under the tree, and there’s more! Families and individuals totaling over 180 people celebrated with us at our recent Christmas event. It’s all made possible through many volunteers, donations and the support of sponsors. We give thanks to Summer of Fun, and local New Brighton businesses, Countdown, and The Warehouse at Eastgate for their support. A big mention to Challenge South Shore who collected presents from the community. Over 150 plus presents were provided to give to low income families and individuals we work with and support through out weekly outreaches and free financial mentoring service. This is a memorable Christmas for many people surrounding us.
OTHER COMMUNITY EVENTS
Over the years Compassion Trust have hosted many different successful events – usually involving food! – always with the aim to help build relationships in the community in order to meet needs, especially for those in disadvantaged situations.
